Abstract

PURPOSE:To clearly distinguish unusable copying paper from usable copying paper so as to treat unusable paper easily, by constituting a catch tray in such a way that the catch tray can be moved in lateral direction when paper jamming occurs and unusable paper is discharged. CONSTITUTION:When, for example, copying paper jams in the vicinity of a fixation device 5, the jammed paper is removed from a passage C of paper jamming. Then copying paper is fed without taking any copies to discharge paper remaining in other paper passages A and B. Simultaneously to the paper feeding, a motor 14 is actuated and a catch tray 3 is moved to a position shown by an alternate long and short dash line. In this way, unusable paper fed without taking any copy is discharged onto the catch tray 3 moved to the offset position. When the discharge of the unusable paper is completed, the catch tray 3 is returned to the original position and a copying machine 1 itself is restored to the normal copying condition. Only the unusable paper offset onto the catch tray 3 is taken out and disposed. Therefore, unusable copying paper can be treated easily.

Conventionally, when a paper jam occurs, any paper remaining in the copying machine other than the jammed paper is manually removed and discarded as unusable paper. For example, the copying machine main body fil shown in FIG.
, if a paper jam occurs in the paper path (A), not only the paper in the paper path (A) but also the paper in the paper path (
The paper in B) and (C) was also taken out by hand and discarded. However, such unloading work is extremely difficult and troublesome depending on the paper path. As a means to solve this problem, the paper in the paper paths (B) and (C) is ejected onto the catch tray through the paper path by operating the paper transport system of the copying machine without taking it out manually, and then discarded. is possible. However, in this case, if the unusable paper is directly ejected onto the catch tray, the paper will be ejected in alignment with the copy sheet already placed on the catch tray. This makes it difficult to distinguish between unusable sheets to be discarded and copies, and it becomes difficult to take out, discard, or remove only unusable sheets from the catch tray.

The present invention aims to solve these drawbacks of the prior art, and makes it possible to clearly distinguish between usable copies and unusable paper in the event of a paper jam, and to facilitate the disposal of unusable paper. The purpose is to provide a copying machine that can perform the following functions.

In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, when unusable paper is ejected, the catch 1-lay is moved laterally in a direction perpendicular to the ejecting direction. By ejecting the paper, the paper wing can be identified from the usable copy, removed, and discarded.

In the above basic configuration, the present invention provides a catch tray (3).
It is characterized in that it can be moved laterally by a lateral movement mechanism. In this embodiment, the bending lateral movement mechanism is a catch tray (3) as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.
A vertical extension part (8) is provided protrudingly on the side of the copying machine, and the vertical extension part (8) is attached to a guide rod whose both ends are fixed to the side wall (1a) of the copying machine main body (1) with holding fittings (9). (A rack (11) is formed on the lower surface of the vertical extension part (8), and a pinion (12) that meshes with the rack (11) is attached to the output shaft (13). Motor (1) attached to

Now, assume that a paper jam occurs near the fixing device (5). First, paper is removed from the paper path (C) where the paper jam has occurred. In this case, other paper paths (A), (B
), the paper is still running and has stopped (note that paper that is in the middle of being transferred cannot be used as a copy). Next, in order to eject the remaining paper, the paper is fed blankly. This is done by operating the paper transport system other than the feeder section. At the same time as this idle feeding, the motor (14) is operated and the catch tray (3) is
It does not reach the position shown by the dotted chain line. As a result, the unusable paper that has been skipped is discharged onto the catch tray (3) located at the offset position. When the ejection is completed, the copying machine main body (1) returns the cassette tray 3) to its normal copyable (standby) state. Further, the user takes out and discards only the paper that has been offset on the catch tray (3).

As described above, in this invention, unusable paper is ejected in an offset state on the catch tray, so the user can easily distinguish between usable copies and unusable paper. It is easier to remove and dispose of paper.
