エンジン軽負荷時等で燃料の供給が遮断され作動を休止
する休止側気筒と、常時燃料と新気が供給され作動を断
続する稼働側気筒とを備え、これら休止側気筒と稼動側
気筒とに対応して吸気通路を途中から分割し、前記作動
体止時に休止側吸気通路を閉じる遮断弁と、同じく休止
時に遮断弁下流に略大気圧の新気を供給する供給弁とを
設けた気筒数制御エンジンにおいて、前記休止側気筒の
作動を休止および復帰する際に、前記遮断弁と供給弁の
少なくともどちらか一方の開閉速度を機関の運転条件に
応じて増減する制御手段を設けたことを特徴とする気筒
