Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to use an ordinary paper also, by a method wherein a plurality of rollers smaller in diameter than paper press rollers and provided with thin saw tooth form projections on the outside periphery thereof are provided between the paper press rollers, in an ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION:The paper-pressing mechanism provided above a platen 1 comprises a pair of paper press rollers 4 for pressing both ends of a paper 3 which rollers are provided on a shaft 6, and a plurality of rollers 5 which are provided between the rollers 4 and each of which is provided with a plurality of saw tooth form projections on the outside periphery thereof slightly smaller in diameter than the rollers 4. When ink jet printing is conducted, the surface of the paper 3 is wetted, the paper 3 is elongated, and wrinkles are generated, so that the paper 3 once brought into close contact with the platen 1 is levitated. In this case, since a plurality of rollers 5 are provided between a pair of paper press rollers 4, the levitation quantity can be dispersed, and the paper 3 can be prevented from making contact with a nozzle surface of a printing head 7.

(2) Conventional technology The ink used in inkjet printers needs contradictory characteristics: it is difficult to dry so as not to cause smearing within the ejection nozzle, and it also dries quickly after adhering to the paper surface. However, it is difficult to obtain ink that satisfies this requirement. Therefore, in conventional inkjet printers, a method has been adopted in which the paper to be used is specified and the ink is quickly absorbed into the paper's white area using water-absorbent paper with a high internal porosity.

FIGS. 6(a) and 6(b) show the details of the roller having serrated projections described above, and a disk 52 having serrated projections is formed by punching out a metal plate with a thickness of about 0.2 mm using a press or the like. The roller 5 is formed by sandwiching it between covers 55 made of plastic from both sides.

Figure m4 shows ink jetting for all lines on various types of recording paper using the print head and ink manufactured by the present inventor, and using the paper holding mechanism shown in Figure 1 with five rollers 5: ) indicates data. The horizontal axis of each T-number indicates the density of printing dots for one line of recording (hereinafter referred to as printing duty), and the vertical axis indicates the total paper width when A4 size paper is used horizontally, and the density of one line of 80 digits. It shows the amount of elongation of paper in the width direction after printing. Further, the printing duty of 100 times indicates a state of solid printing in which ink is jetted to the negative part. Normally, in the case of character printing, Alfbento and numbers, the average duty is around 15 inches. The average duty for TIS level 1 kanji is 50.
It is around %. Solid printing with a duty of 100 inches is often used for graph ink and the like. The gearing between the print head and 1 latin is approximately 1 WrIn.

As a result of conducting experiments on various types of paper shown in Figures 4 (a) to (f) under the above conditions, it was found that 100% duty printing was performed on the specially processed special paper shown in (a). However, while the paper width elongation is suppressed to about 1tMn,
When printing with a duty of 100 on plain paper (f), the amount of paper elongation will be about 5 tatami.

The position of the two-dot chain line shown in the valley experimental data in the m4 diagram indicates the range in which the recording paper does not come into contact with the print head when two rollers 5 are provided, and the amount of elongation is approximately one movement. This can be done without the recording paper touching the head, even if the paper width increases.

In the case of plain paper as shown in FIG. 4(f), if printing is performed with a duty of 50 pages or more, rubbing (contact) between the print head and the paper will occur. Therefore, as a result of increasing the number of rollers 5 to five, the print head and paper did not rub against each other even if the amount of elongation was approximately 211n during cutting.

(5) Effects As explained above, in the paper holding mechanism of the present invention, the roller 5 has extremely thin serrated protrusions formed on the circumference, so even if the paper floats and touches the tip of the protrusions, the ink will not be absorbed. It will not dry out and will not stain the printed surface.

また、ローラ5はローラ4よシも外径が小さいため、紙

Further, since the roller 5 has a smaller outer diameter than the roller 4, it does not touch the paper when the amount of paper elongation is minute, so the paper surface is not stained as described above.

Furthermore, since the roller 5 simply presses down a thin metal plate having m-toothed protrusions from both sides with press plates made of plastic or the like, it can be done easily and inexpensively.

6- According to the paper holding structure of the present invention, plain paper can be used without specifying the recording paper, and it can be used without imposing restrictions on ink or heads, so the range of use of the inkjet printer can be expanded. .
