Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide lubricity on the surface of a magnetic layer deposited by evaporation or sputtered on a base by incorporating perfluoroalkyl polyether contg. a carboxyl group as a lubricant in the surface of said magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A cobalt-chromium alloy is formed on a polyester film by a sputtering method to 0.5mum thickness to prepare a magnetic recording medium. Said medium is cut to a disc shape and after the disc is immersed for 30sec in a freon soln. of perfluoroalkyl polyether contg. a carboxyl group, the disk is dried at 60 deg.C for one minute and is housed in a jacket of PVC lined with a non-woven fabric. The freon soln. is composed at the ratios shown by the sample numbers 1-4 in Table 1.
