Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a cast tire from thermoplastic elastomer or thermoplastic resin by burying bead cores after molding the tire body and welding plugs and the body to one body by high frequency heating. CONSTITUTION:The tire body 1 having a groove-like cavity over the entire periphery of the bead part 2 is molded by the well-known process of casting. A necessary number of bead cores 4 are inserted into the cavity 3 of the tire body 1 and the outside of the cavity is choked by plug 5 molded from molding material homogeneous to the tire body 1. Ferromagnetic substance is used for the bead cores. The bead cores are heated by high frequency induction heating and the plugs 5 are welded to the tire body 1.

Cast tires and tires molded using molding materials such as thermoplastic elastomers and thermoplastic resins are used. Methods of inserting one or more bead cores into such a cast-molded clay are (i) embedding them at the same time when the tire body is molded, and (ii) forming groove-like recesses in the bead portion when molding the tire body. Conventionally, two methods have been adopted: a method in which a bead core is fitted into this groove-like recess after the tire body is molded.

However, in the above method (i), it is necessary to firmly hold the bead core with a pin or the like so as to withstand the injection pressure during one-time molding, which is undesirable because it leaves pin marks on the product. In addition, in the method (ii) above, in order to securely hold the bead core, it is necessary to tighten the fit between the bead core and the groove-shaped recess, but it is actually difficult to obtain an optimal fitted state. The bead core often caused damage to the bead.

This invention was made for the purpose of providing a method for manufacturing a cast tire using a thermoplastic elastomer or thermoplastic resin as a molding material, in which a bead core can be successfully embedded. A tire body with groove-like recesses in the bead portion that open at the sides is cast-molded using thermoplastic elastomer or thermoplastic resin, and a bead core made of a ferromagnetic metal material is fitted into the four groove-like portions. After that, a plug made of the same material as the tire body is fitted into the groove-like recess, the bead core is heated by high-frequency induction heating, and the heat is used to weld and integrate the tire body and the plug. Hereinafter, embodiments will be explained based on the accompanying drawings.

As the molding material for the tire body I, thermoplastic elastomers such as polyester elastomers, polyurethane elastomers, and polyolefin elastomers can be used. It is preferable that the width of the groove-shaped recess 3 is about 05 to 1 wider than the width of the bead core 4 to be used, and its depth is such that the bead core 4 is located at a predetermined bead core embedding position. Further, the diameter of the groove-like recess 3 is set to be equal to the diameter of the bead core 4.

As the bead core, a ferromagnetic material, such as a metal product such as a steel wire, is used that has appropriate strength and can be heated by high-frequency induction heating. The plug body 5 is molded from the same molding material as the tire body 1, that is, a thermoplastic elastomer, and is formed as an annular body having a wall thickness approximately equal to that of the groove-shaped recess 3. It is inserted into the recess 3.

After the groove-shaped recess 3 into which the bead core 4 has been inserted is closed with the plug 5, the bead core made of a ferromagnetic material is heated by high-frequency induction heating, and the plug 5 is welded to the tire body 1. The coil 6 for high-frequency induction heating is preferably arranged all around the bead core 4 so that the entire bead core 4 is uniformly heated at the same time, but the bead core 4 is made of a metal material and has high thermal conductivity. Therefore, depending on the conditions, it is possible to uniformly heat the entire area without having to provide the coil 6 all around the circumference. A coil 6 is provided near a specific location on the circumference of the bead portion 2, and the tire body 1 is inserted so as to pass through this coil installation location over the entire circumference of the bead portion 2.
Alternatively, the heating may be performed sequentially while rotating. The oscillation frequency of high frequency induction heating is l Q Q I<J-1z
Although it is preferable to set it as about 5 Ml-1z, it is not limited to this. During heating, as shown in Figure 2, use plates 7, 7', etc. to spread the molten adhesive part from 1 to 5 by 9/cd.
It is preferable to apply pressure to the area.

By the above operation, the plug 5 and the tire body 1 are integrated, the gap in the bead core buried part disappears, and the bead core 4 is securely held without deforming the bead part as shown in Fig. 3. A molded tire of 1° is obtained. Since the heating for welding the plug body is performed by high-frequency induction heating, the heating operation is simple and the operation can be carried out efficiently without heating parts that do not need to be heated.

As explained above, the method for manufacturing a cast tire according to the present invention is excellent in that it can reliably fix the bead core in a predetermined position without deforming the bead portion or creating a large gap. Since the bead core is buried after the tire body is molded, there is no need for pins to fix the bead core during casting, and there are no pin marks left on the product.
