PURPOSE:To enable setting of a magnetization direction in a prescribed direction and to obviate the limitation by the shape thereof by forming a magnetoresistance effect element by disposing conductor parts on a ferromagnetic sheet and impressing bias magnetic fields respectively from said parts. CONSTITUTION:A C-shaped ferromagnetic sheet 11 having a microgap 12 is connected with lead wires 15, 16 for feeding sensing current at both ends of the part 11A facing a recording medium 1. The 1st conductor part 13 is disposed in parallel with the part 11A of the sheet 11 and both ends are connected with lead wires 17, 18.
