Abstract

PURPOSE:To clearly define the boundary between a coated part and an uncoated part, by sticking a masking material made of a specified synthetic resin on a part not to be coated and then conducting the coating. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 3 (not to be coated) of a synthetic resin molding is covered with a masking material 4 which has an inner wall part having a shape corresponding to the outer shape of the part 3 and is made of a synthetic resin of 3-6mm. in thickness and having a thermal expansion coefficient (0.5X 10<-4>-3.0X10<-4>) close to that of the molding. A tape 6 is stuck to the boundary between the part 2 to be coated and the part 3 over the whole length from the edge of the masking material 4 to part of the molding to clearly define the coating boundary by the edge where the tape 6 is stuck to the molding. Then the part 2 is coated.

For example, when painting the exterior parts of an automobile bumper made of urethane foam, there are parts that do not require painting for various reasons. Widely used methods have been to cover areas that do not need to be painted using a metal masking mold, or to completely cover areas that do not need to be painted using paper tape. The boundary line with the painted area cannot be clearly defined, resulting in a significant loss of appearance.Furthermore, after the painting process, the exterior product moves to the next baking and drying process, but in this process, the exterior Due to the large difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the product and the metal masking mold, curved deformation occurs on the exterior product, and this type of painting process mainly adopts the conveyor production method. Therefore, a large number of metal masking molds were temporarily required, and the cost of these metal masking molds could not be ignored, and there remained a problem in this respect as well. In addition, in the latter method, in order to make the painting boundary line clear, 10~20 rxm is placed near the boundary line.
A wide tape is pasted on the shield, and the other non-painted areas are covered with wide tape or covering paper, and this is fixed with tape, etc., but this method does not require the application of tape or other covering materials. It takes a lot of effort.

またテープ、被覆紙の再利用ができず、ために材料費が
嵩むなどの欠点が残った。
In addition, the tape and covering paper could not be reused, resulting in increased material costs.

It also provides a partial coating method using the overmask method for 1° plastic molded products that does not cause curvature deformation of the molded product even during the baking and drying process. Paint the molded product described in t using a plastic masking material that has a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of the molded product described in L and has an inner wall surface that approximately matches the external shape of the parts of the molded product that do not require painting. It is characterized in that the masking material is applied to unnecessary parts, and the entire length is fixed with tape over the edge of the masking material and the molded product. Next, an example of this invention as a plastic molded product will be described. This will be explained in detail using drawings.

When the painted area (2) of the plastic molded product is completely painted in the following manner, the painting boundary line (5) clearly appears due to the presence of the tape (6), and the plastic molded product (1) after the painting process is painted. Even when sent to baking drying, the plastic molded product +1) and the masking material (4) have approximately similar coefficients of thermal expansion, so there is no curvature 21 of the plastic molded product (1).
The masking material (4) can be easily removed from the molded product (1) and can be used repeatedly.

In addition, this invention makes it possible to clearly express the painting border by using a masking material and a tape to fix it.
This makes it possible to produce products with a good appearance, and the masking work can be done in a relatively short time, contributing to work efficiency. Also, the repeated reuse of masking material significantly reduces work costs. This is attributed to the reduction of
