Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the construction of the titled device simple reducing the weight thereof by a method wherein baffle plates to lead running air to an engine is provided on both rear sides of the front wheel fender. CONSTITUTION:Baffle plates 9 are formed into one body at lower both sides of a fixed fender 7 directly in front of an engine 3. The baffle plates 9 are provided with air passages 10 wide open in front of both sides while narrowing at the rear parts. The outlet of each air passage is slightly bent inward directed toward the air cooling engine 3. Posts 9a connect the baffle plates 9 to the fixed fender 7. While moter cycle is running, the running air enters into the relatively wide inlets and jets out of the relatively narrow outlets at high speed toward the air cooling engine 3. The running air deprives the cooling fins 3a formed on the surface of the cooling engine 3 of the heat generated by the engine 3 flowing backward. Through these procedures, althrough the relatively wide fixed fender is provided, air cooling operation is effective making the construction of the cooling system simple.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to an engine air cooling system for a motorcycle, and in particular for a motorcycle, in order to reduce the inertial weight around the steering handle and improve maneuverability, the front fender is divided into front and rear parts. The present invention relates to an engine air cooling system suitable for an engine air cooling system in which a front member is fixed to a front fork so as to turn left and right together with the front wheels, and a rear member is fixedly attached to a vehicle body frame.

However, in a vehicle where the front 7-ender is divided into front and rear parts and a fixed fender is placed in front of the engine, even if the mud thrown by the front wheels is thrown up widely to the left and right as the wheels turn, it will not be affected. The width of the fixed fender installed in front of the engine is increased to prevent it from adhering to the engine. Therefore, the amount of running air acting on the engine is reduced. As a result, it becomes necessary to improve cooling performance by increasing the size of the cooling fins and water-cooling the engine. This complicates the structure of the engine and increases its weight.

This invention aims to solve the above-mentioned problems, and is characterized in that wind guide plates are provided on both sides of the rear of the front wheel fender to guide the running air toward the engine.

In the figure, 1 is a motorcycle, and an air-cooled engine 3 is mounted immediately behind a front wheel 2. 3a is a cooling fin provided on the outer surface of the engine 3. A telescopic front fork 4 supports the front wheel 2, and is pivotally supported on a steering shaft tube at the front end of the vehicle body frame 5 so as to be able to turn left and right. A front fender 6 is provided above the front wheel 2. The front fender 6 differs from the general one in that it has a movable fender 6a that is attached to the front of the front fork 4 with a stay 4a and can be turned left and right together with the front wheel 2, and a movable fender 6a that is attached to the lower front surface of the vehicle body frame 5. and a fixed fender 6b made of synthetic resin.

A baffle plate 9 is integrally formed on both lower side surfaces of the fixed fender 7 and located immediately in front of the engine 3. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the baffle plate 9 has ventilation passages 10 on both sides that are wide open toward the front and narrow at the rear. The outlet of each air passage 10 is directed inward toward the air-cooled engine 3. Reference numeral 9a denotes a support that connects the baffle plate 9 to the fixed fender 1.

Since the motorcycle of the embodiment is equipped with the air guide plate 9 as described above, when the vehicle runs, the wind is received by the relatively wide entrance, and the wind is blown out at high speed from the relatively narrow exit toward the air-cooled engine 3. . The running wind absorbs engine heat from the cooling fins 3a formed on the surface of the air-cooled engine 3 and flows rearward.

As described above, this invention is a system in which wind guide plates are provided on both sides of the rear of the front wheel fender to divert the running air toward the engine. Wind is blown toward the engine at high speed, drawing heat from the engine through the cooling fins on its surface. Therefore,
A relatively wide fixed fender is installed on the front of the air-cooled engine to prevent dirt thrown up from flying into the engine. Even if the fender is fendered, it does not obstruct the running wind and allows for good cooling. This has the advantage of not increasing the weight of the engine or complicating the structure.
