DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an article processing apparatus, and more particularly to an article processing apparatus that can be advantageously applied to apply rust inhibitors to the cut edges of container lids, such as crowns.

For example, container lids, such as crowns, are generally made entirely of ultra-thin sheets (e.g. tin sheets,
It is formed by punching a chromic acid-treated steel sheet or aluminum-based alloy sheet into a desired shape, and then simultaneously or subsequently applying press working or the like. In the container lid formed in this manner, the required amount of protective coating is applied to the outer and inner surfaces, but the cut edge (the edge R produced by the above-mentioned punching) is coated with a protective coating. There is no protective coating and the metal material is exposed. Therefore, as is well known to those skilled in the art, if a container lid formed in the above-described manner is plugged into the bottom of a container such as a beverage bottle, it will take a relatively short period of time, especially in high humidity conditions. Over time, rust will develop on the cut edge, making it unacceptable from the point of view of appearance and hygiene. Therefore, conventionally, after forming the container lid as described above, Attempts have been made to apply a rust preventive agent to the cut edge as a protective coating. As a painting method of applying a rust preventive to the cut edge of a container lid, for example, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 55-16240, the container lid is fixedly held by an appropriate retainer, and then the container is fixedly held. transporting the lid through a predetermined path and dipping its cut edge into a layer of electrocoated paint;
It has thus been proposed to electrocoat the cut edges.

However, known painting methods including the above-mentioned electrodeposition coating for applying a rust preventive to the cut edge of a container lid require (1) application of the rust preventive agent sufficiently uniformly over the entire cut edge; (2) Requires relatively complex and expensive equipment;
(3) It is impossible or difficult to speed up the painting process; (4)
) There is a strong tendency for the rust preventive agent to weakly adhere to parts other than the cut edge of the container lid, and such weakly adhered rust preventive agent may fall off during the subsequent capping process and contaminate the capping machine, etc. There are various drawbacks that need to be resolved.

Then, when the container lid 86 is conveyed through the processing area 88''!, the cut edge of the container lid 86 is brought into partial contact with the surface of the article processing belt 20.This point will be explained in more detail as follows.
As can be easily understood from FIG. 2, in the specific example shown, the processing running portion 48a of the article conveying belt 48 (i.e., the front side in FIG. 1, the second The surface of the rollers 66 and 68/fi article processing belt 20 around which the article conveyance belt 48 is wound is such that the surface of the running section (located on the left side in the figure and the rear side in FIG. 3) forms an acute angle α. It is sloped. Therefore, in the non-processing traveling portion 48b of the article conveying belt 48, there is a relatively large gap between the lower edge of the article conveying belt 48 and the surface of the article processing belt 20, but the article conveyance in the processing area 88 is The lower edge of the processing running portion 48 & of the belt 48 and the article processing belt 2
The interval between 0 and 0 is relatively small. Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, as can be easily understood from FIG. The lower edge of the processing run m4sa of the article conveying belt 48 in the processing area 88 is tilted at an appropriate angle β in the direction of gradually approaching the surface of the article conveying belt 48. The surface of the article processing belt 20 is sequentially approached when viewed in the direction. Therefore, the container lid 86, which is suctioned and held on the surface of the article conveying belt 48 so that its cut edge partially protrudes downward beyond the lower edge of the article conveying belt 48, is On the upstream side of the processing zone 88 in the direction of movement of the belt 48 shown by the arrow 74, the cut edge does not come into contact with the surface of the article processing belt 20, but when the article is conveyed to the processing zone 88, The cut edge will come into contact with the surface of the article processing belt 20. In the processing area 88 , the surface of the article conveying belt 48 is attracted by the action of a magnetic field generated by a stationary guide plate 22 formed from a permanent magnet disposed on the back surface of the upper traveling section 201 of the article processing belt 20 . The retained container lid 86 is magnetically attracted to the surface of the article processing belt 20, thus ensuring that the cut edge of the container lid 86 is in partial contact with the surface of the article processing belt 20.

In processing zone 88 , there is relative motion between article handling belt 20 and article transport belt 48 , more specifically article handling belt 20 is moved in the direction shown by arrow 32 and article transport belt 48 is moved in the direction shown by arrow 74 . In addition to being moved in the direction indicated by

Therefore, due to the relative movement between article handling belt 20 and article transport belt 48 , a force is applied from article handling belt 20 to a portion of the cut edge of container lid 86 . Thus, the container lid 86 is conveyed in the direction shown by arrow 74 as the article conveying belt 48 moves, and rolls on the surface of the article processing belt 20 in the direction shown by arrow 94 in FIG. Therefore, when the container lid 86 is transported through the processing area 88 in the direction shown by the arrow 74 as the article transport belt 48 moves, the entire cut edge of the container lid 86 is transferred to the article processing belt 20 due to the above transfer. The anticorrosion agent present on the surface of the article processing belt 200 is thus applied to the entire cut edge of the container lid 86 with sufficient uniformity.

The angle α between the surface of the article processing belt 20 and the surface of the article conveying belt 48 in the treatment zone 88 is particularly important when the container lid 86 whose cut edge is to be coated with a rust preventive agent is a regular crown. , preferably about 50 to 80 degrees, especially 60 to 70 degrees. In addition, the angle β in the processing area 88

On the other hand, the length of the processing area 88 is determined from the viewpoint of applying the rust preventive agent to the entire cut edge of the container lid 86 sufficiently uniformly. It is desirable that the length K is long enough for the roller to roll at least 2 to 3 revolutions.

More importantly, in the processing zone 88, as clearly illustrated in FIG.
It is convenient for the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 (i.e., the processing traveling section 48 of the article conveying belt 48) to extend at an angle r, preferably about 3 to 40 degrees, particularly about 5 to 20 degrees. It is. When the running path of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined at the angle r with respect to the running path of the article processing belt 20 in the processing area 88, as can be easily understood by referring to FIG. The container lid 86 is prevented from rolling obliquely over an area of the surface of the article handling belt 20 having a relatively large lateral width W, and therefore has a relatively large lateral width W of the surface of the article handling belt 20. The rust preventive agent present in the area having @W is effectively used and is sufficiently applied to the cut edge of the container lid 86. On the other hand, if the angle r is 0 degrees or a significantly small value, the container lid 86 in the processing area 88 will roll only over a specific region of the surface of the article processing belt 200 where the width in the lateral direction is significantly small. Otherwise, there is a risk that the rust preventive agent transferred from the surface of the article processing belt 20 to the cut edge of the container lid 86 may be insufficient.

As described above, when the running path of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined at the angle r with respect to the running path of the article processing belt 20 in the processing area 88, as in the illustrated example, the article processing in the processing area 88 is performed. belt 20
The moving direction shown by the arrow 32 and the moving direction shown by the arrow 74 of the article conveying belt 48 are opposite to each other, and the direction of movement shown by the arrow 74 of the article conveying belt 48 is relative to the surface of the article processing belt 20. VcFi
It is preferable that the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined to the left by the angle r with respect to the traveling path of the article processing belt 200 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48- indicated by the arrow 74. Thus, as will be understood with reference to FIGS. 1 and 5, the cutting of container lid 86 as it moves in the direction indicated by arrow 74 in conjunction with movement of article transport belt 48 in processing area 88. Due to the fact that the lowermost portion of the edge contacts the surface of the article processing belt 20 that is moving in the direction shown by the arrow 32, the lowermost portion of the cut edge of the container lid 86 is moved from the surface of the article processing belt 200. The force applied to the lower portion has a component in the direction of vertically raising the container lid 86, that is, a component in the direction of pressing the outer surface of the top wall of the container lid 86 against the surface of the article conveying belt 480. , Therefore, the container lid 86 is attached to the article conveying belt 4
The article conveying belt 48 is reliably suctioned and held on the surface of the article conveying belt 48 without being separated from the surface of the article conveying belt 48.

On the other hand, if the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 is tilted to the right by the above-mentioned angle r with respect to the traveling path of the article processing belt 200 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48 shown by the arrow 74, the article processing The force applied from the surface of the belt 20 to the lowermost portion of the cut edge of the container lid 86 has a component in the direction of further tilting the container lid 86 toward the surface of the article processing belt 20. become.

In such a case, when the container lid 88 is transported in an arc shape along the outer peripheral surface of the row 268 at the downstream end of the processing area 88 as viewed in the moving direction shown by the arrow 74 of the article conveying belt 48, the container lid 88 The above force having a component in a direction that causes the container lid 86 to further tilt toward the surface of the article processing belt 20 causes the container lid 86 to be detached from the surface of the article conveyance belt 48 and onto the surface of the article processing belt 20. There is a risk of falling.

Contrary to the specific example shown, in the processing area 88, the surface of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined to the right of the surface of the article processing belt 20 with respect to the surface of the article processing belt 20 when viewed in the moving direction indicated by the arrow 74 of the article conveying belt 48. In such a case, for the same reason as described above, the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 is shifted to the right side with respect to the traveling path of the article processing belt 20 when viewed in the moving direction indicated by the arrow 74 of the article conveying belt 48. It is preferable to incline it by the above-mentioned angle r. On the other hand, in the specific example shown, the article processing belt 20 and the article conveyance belt 48 are moved in opposite directions in the processing area 88; There is no need to move the article processing belt 20 in the processing zone 88, if desired.
It is also possible to move the article handling belt 20 and the article transport belt 48 in the same direction at different speeds, thus creating relative motion between the article handling belt 20 and the article conveying belt 48 in the processing zone 88. When the article processing belt 20 and the article conveyance belt 48 are moved in the same direction in the processing area 88, when the moving speed of the article processing belt 20 is faster than the moving speed of the article conveying belt 48, the article processing belt 20 and the article conveyance belt 48 are moved in the same direction. The force applied from the surface of the article processing belt 20 to the cut edge of the container lid 86 has a component in the same direction as when the article processing belt 20 and the article conveyance belt 48 are moved in opposite directions. Therefore,
Similarly to the case described above, if the surface of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined to the left of the vertical direction with respect to the surface of the article processing belt 20 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48, the article conveying belt 48 The traveling path of the article conveying belt 480 is inclined to the left by the above-mentioned angle r with respect to the traveling path of the article processing belt 200 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48. On the other hand, if the surface of the article conveying belt 48 is tilted to the right in the vertical direction, the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 is relative to the traveling path of the article processing belt 20 when viewed from the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48. The right angle above JIK
It is preferable to incline it by a certain amount. On the other hand, when the moving speed of the article processing belt 20 is smaller than the moving speed of the article conveying belt 48, the article processing belt 2
The force applied from the 00 surface to the cut edge of the container lid 86 is:
When the above-mentioned article processing bell) 20 and article conveyance belt 48 are moved in opposite directions, there is a component in the opposite direction. Therefore, contrary to the case described above, if the surface of the article conveying belt 48 is tilted to the left from the vertical direction with respect to the surface of the article processing belt 200 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48, , the traveling path of the article conveying belt 48 is inclined to the right by the angle r with respect to the traveling path of the article processing belt 20 when viewed in the moving direction of the article conveying belt 48; If the surface of the article conveyance belt 48 is perpendicular to the surface of the article processing belt 20 and inclined to the right, then the surface of the article conveyance belt 48 is tilted to the right when viewed from the moving direction of the article conveyance belt 48. It is preferable that the running path of the article conveying belt 48 be inclined to the left by the angle r.

The container lid 86tfi whose cut edge is coated with a rust preventive agent in the processing area 88 as described above is further conveyed in the direction shown by the arrow 74 as the article conveying belt 48 moves;
It reaches the non-processing traveling portion 48b of the article conveying belt 48. At this time, since the lower edge of the article conveying belt 48 moves upwardly away from the surface of the article processing belt 20 as it moves away from the processing area 88, the cut edge of the container lid 86 is separated from the surface of the article processing belt 20. It will be done. When the container lid 86 transported along with the movement of the article conveying belt 48 reaches the knife-edge-shaped detachment/introduction port 90 of the chute 92 constituting the article discharging means 78, the container lid is removed by the action of the detachment/induction port 90. 86 is separated from the surface of the article conveying belt 48 and introduced into the chute 92. Then, through the chute 92, it is carried into a drying oven for drying and baking the rust preventive agent applied to the cut edge.
