Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin compsn. which does not crack even when dipped in or brought into contact with vegetable, animal and mineral oils and fats, plasticizer, organic solvent, etc. under stess, prepared by adding a small amount of tetrafluoroethylene/pefluoroalkoxyethylene copolymer. CONSTITUTION:At least 0.5pt.wt. tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoroalkoxyethylene copolymer is added to 100pts.wt. tetrafluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer resin to produce the titled compsn. with improved resistance to cracking due to environmental stress. EFFECT:Excellent physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal and electrical properties inherent to tetrafluroethylen/hexafluoropropylene copolymer resin are not impaired at all.

Conventionally, tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene resin compositions have excellent physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties, and are easy to process by extrusion, injection, and molding methods. Although it is being widely used as a molding material for industrial and consumer institutions, recently developed environmental substances such as
It has been found that when immersed in or in contact with animals, plants, mineral oils and fats, plasticizers, organic solvents, etc. under stress, cracks are generated, which then grow and lead to destruction. This is called environmental stress cracking.

The present invention is a novel tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene resin composition that improves environmental stress cracking properties without impairing the excellent physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties inherent in the tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene resin composition. An object of the present invention is to provide a composition based on an ethylene tetrafluoride-propylene hexafluoride copolymer resin composition. 100 parts by weight, both tetrafluoroethylene and perchloroalkoxyethylene have a remarkable effect on improving the environmental stress cracking resistance, and the reason for this is currently under investigation. The amount added is limited from the viewpoint of the effect on the environmental stress resistance of the composition, and the effect is difficult to notice if it is less than 0.5 parts by weight.
