Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at preventing oil leaks and oil loss via the piston ring and as well reducing friction, by vertically holding a specific center ring between specific endless rings for forming a main body, and as well by holding the body at the top and bottom thereof between flexible plates. CONSTITUTION:A center ring 7 having a gap 8 is vertically held between endless rings 9, 10. An expander 11 is so arranged that its gap 12 is radially opposed to the gap 12 of the center ring 7, and therefore, urges the rings 9, 10 outward for making them in close contact with the internal surface 1 of the cylinder. In the vicinity of the gap 8, two bosses 13, 14 are provided for urging the rings 9, 10 outward so that the rings 9, 10 are closely contacted to the internal surface 1 of the cylinder. Further, flexible plates 15, 16 made of rubber or the like are applied on the top and bottom of the rings 9, 10, respectively, and are pushed against the upper and lower surfaces 4, 5 of a ring groove by the top and bottom ends of a holding ring 17. With this arrangement, the rings 7, 9, 10 are outwardly stretched by the expander 11, thereby gas leaks between the them and the internal surface 1 of the cylinder may be prevented.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] Traditionally, piston rings for Stirling engines include:
Three characteristics have been strictly required: low gas leakage, low friction due to the pressure difference applied to the ring, and low oil rise and blow-through.

Subsequently, as a measure to reduce ring friction, attempts have been made to use a large number of extremely thin cut plating rings, and this has been found to be effective in reducing friction, but the leakage of small f4f from the cut has not been completely eliminated. 〇There remains a defect that cannot be prevented.〇The thin plating of the present invention, which has been cut off for one year, is tightly punched from above and below with two end rings. By pressing the ring against the inner surface of the cylinder near that area,
This is intended to reduce friction and leakage, and also to prevent oil from rising up by inserting rubber or plastic plates on both sides of the entire ring. The present invention will be explained with reference to the drawing, which is a piston ring for a Stirling engine. Figure $1 is a central sectional view of one embodiment of the present invention, and Figure 2 is a plan view of the embodiment of Figure 1 viewed from above. 1 is the inner surface of the cylinder of the Stirling engine, 2 is the piston body, and 3 is the - of the piston.
It is an L-direction divided part, and 4.5 is the upper surface and lower surface of the ring groove in which the piston ring is fitted, and 6 is the bottom surface of the groove.

Now, number 7 is the center ring with a cut, and number 8 is the cut in the vagina center ring. 9.10 are all endless rings with an outer diameter slightly smaller than the inner surface of the cylinder, and both are sandwiched between the center ring above and below, like 1-1. A certain oll is an expander, and 12 is its cut, which is located 180 degrees behind the -cut 8 of the center ring 7, and the expander 11 pushes the center ring 7 from the back side all around the circumference, Its outer side is pressed against the inner surface of the cylinder l. Zateko's expander II has a uniform thickness for the most part, but it has two protrusions 13, 14 on the outside near the notch 8 in the center ring so that the overall cross section is U-shaped. The tips of both protrusions push the end rings 9 and 10 outward from the back surface, and the outer surfaces of the end rings 9 and 10 pushed by them are centered on the inner surface 1 of the cylinder only in that area. / It is structured so that it comes in close contact with the gua. Reference numerals 15 and 16 are thin plates made of a flexible material such as rubber or plastic, which are placed above and below the annular presser ring 17. Bts and tq are pressed against the upper and lower surfaces 4 and 5 of the groove. 20 indicates the gap formed between the thin plate 15 and the upper surface 4 of the groove when a pressure of J: 7J' is applied.

Next, the operation will be explained. First, the center ring is expanded outward over its entire surface by the expander 11 to prevent gas leakage J1 between the center ring and the inner surface 1 of the cylinder, but the center ring is opened at the cut portion 8 of the center ring. However, in that vicinity, the protrusion 13.14 provided on the expander 11 pushes the end ring 9.10 outward, and the end ring 9.10 comes into close contact with the inner surface of the cylinder at the same time.
The opening is closed from above and below, and gas leakage at the cut end is almost completely prevented. Further, when pressure is applied from above as shown in Fig. 1, the thin plate 15 is pressed downward and the entire ring is pushed in the direction F, leaving a gap 20 near the upper surface 4 of the groove. The thin plate 15. is in close contact near the bottom surface 5 of the thin plate 15. Therefore, the oil and oil pass through the back side of the entire ring. lfl prevents the oil from rising. “ Due to the above operation, this piston ring has the effect of minimizing gas leakage and preventing oil from rising. It has the effect of reducing the friction force by making it smaller.

Next, other embodiments will be explained. FIG. 3 is a sectional view of another embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 4 is a plan view of the vicinity of the cut end of the embodiment of FIG. 3, viewed from above. 21 in Fig. 3 is a central ring made of metal with a self-extending force; 22
.. Reference numeral 23 denotes a metal end ring that sandwiches the center ring 21 from above and below.Other parts are the same as those in the embodiment shown in FIG. In this embodiment, as shown in the figure, the pins 25 and 26 are attached to the central ring 21 through the vicinity of the left and right rear surfaces near the notch 24, and the end rings 22 and 26 are attached to the end rings 22 and 26 by their upper and lower pin tips. Hook the back side of the 22.
The outer surface of the cylinder 23 is configured to be in close contact with the inner surface 1 of the cylinder at the same time as the center ring 21, so that the center ring 21
This has the effect of closing the opening near the cut 24. This embodiment can be applied when the center ring is made of metal or the like and has a self-extending ring, and the effect is the same as that of the embodiment shown in FIG.
