Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the fitting of a tire on a rim and prevent air leakage, by convexly shaping the bottom of the bead in accordance with the form of the bead seat. CONSTITUTION:The bead seat 5 of a rim 4 comprises an outer part 2 sloping down from the outside of a tire toward its inside in tight contact with the bead heel 6 and an inner part 3 sloping down from the inside toward the outside in tight contact with the bead toe 7. The bead seat 5 has such an approximate V shape that the surface of the seat is lowest at or near the point P of meeting of the inner and the outer parts 3, 2 and slopes up inwards and outwards from the point. The bottom of the bead of the tire is provided with an approximate V shape corresponding to that of the head seat 5, to fit the bead on the seat.

Generally, the assembly of a tire and a rim is carried out by placing a tire outer skin (12) on the bead seats (11) of a rim shaped as shown in Fig. 1, and then filling this with indoor pressure.
1) and the bead portion (15) is pressed onto the rim flange (14) to hold the tire outer skin on the rim. When a tire and rim assembly with such a conventional structure receives a momentary large lateral impact while driving, or when the internal pressure drops.

The disadvantage is that the bead part moves inward of the bead seat and eventually falls off into the rim well. On the other hand, in order to prevent the tire from coming off the rim, many so-called bead spacers have been proposed that fix and hold the movement of the bead, but these do not only sacrifice workability when assembling the rim, but also have a complex structure that makes manufacturing difficult. Cost – Expensive. The present invention comprehensively solves these problems, and aims to provide a tire and rim assembly that has a simplified structure, prevents the rim from coming off, and is easy to assemble.

FIG. 2 shows a partial sectional view of an assembly according to the invention. In the figure, the bead seat (5) of the rim (1) is located at the bead heel (
an outer bead seat (2) having an inclination that descends from the outer side of the tire toward the inner side in close proximity to the bead toe portion (2);
7), which has an inclination that descends from the inside toward the outside in close proximity to the inside and the dowel seat (5). That is, the bead seat (5) is located at the intersection of the slopes of the outer bead seat and the inner bead seat (
It is formed in a substantially V-shape with an inclination that is lowest at or near this point and rises toward the inner and outer ends. Therefore, by fitting the bead portion, which has a substantially V-shaped bottom portion corresponding to the shape of the bead seat, into the bead seat, the direction from the inner and outer ends of the bead seat to the intersection point (p) in the central portion is made. When the rubber is compressed, the bead portion is tightened onto the seat, and the bead portion is firmly held, preventing the rim from coming off and increasing the air sealing effect. This effect tends to increase as the angles α and β between the outer bead seat (2) and the inner bead seat (3) and a line (M) parallel to the axis of rotation become larger; however, if this angle becomes too large, This is undesirable because it reduces the fit and adhesion between the rim and the bead. Therefore, the angles a and β are set in the range 5°-45°, particularly preferably in the range 10°-30°.

Next, the inner bead seat (3) has the function of coming into close contact with the bead toe portion, firmly fixing and holding the bead portion, and preventing internally filled air from leaking to the outside. Therefore, it is desirable that the length CL of the inner bead seat (5) in the rotational axis direction is 50 inches or more.

However, when it exceeds 70 inches, the function of the outer bead seat (2) effectively disperses the compressive strain at the bead heel.

Next, a protrusion (8) adjacent to the inner end of the inner bead seat (3) and formed in the circumferential direction has the function of abutting against the side surface of the bead toe and fixing the lateral movement thereof. The assembly of the present invention can be applied to both split rims and single rims, but especially when applied to a single rim as shown in the second trowel side, the upper end of the bead seat is The height axis from the rim well depth D) is set smaller than the rim well depth D), and is usually selected within the range of 2 m to 19 ss, for example.

Furthermore, when the angle (r) between the inner surface line (3) of the rim flange (9) and a line (b) parallel to the axis of rotation is 75°-105°, there is an inclination effect with the inner bead seat (3). Together, the bead portion is tightened even more firmly, and the bead retention force is further improved.

Next, when fitting the bead portion of the tire with the bead seat, the bottom of the bead is shaped into a centrally convex shape corresponding to the V-shape of the bead seat, taking into account adhesion, compressive strain, etc., as shown in Figure 2. is formed. In addition, a reinforcing layer (10) is arranged at the bead portion from the inside of the tire, extending over the area adjacent to the bead seat (5) and rim flange (9) to the top of the rim flange, which provides an air sealing effect and prevents wear of the bead portion. be carried out effectively. As the reinforcing layer (10), in addition to a single layer of rubber, a rubber layer reinforced with fabric or staple fibers is usually used. In the figure, 21 and 22 are carcass plies, 2'5 is an inner liner, 24 is a bead core, and 25 is a bead apex.

FIG. 3 shows a partial sectional view of an embodiment in which the assembly of the present invention is applied to a split rim. Here, the split rim (18) is composed of a double structure of an inner holding part C16) and an outer holding part (17), and is placed on inner bead seats (16a) formed at both ends of the inner holding part (16). The bead portion is placed on the outer bead seat (1) formed at both ends of the rear outer holding portion (18).
