Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust a voltage applied to a varactor diode for a wide range by selectively picking up an output from a quartz oscillator setting the oscillation frequency into several stages, rectifying the said output n-times and obtaining a voltage n-times the power supply voltage. CONSTITUTION:Either one of quartz oscillators 1-3 is selected from a selection switch 4 and after the output is amplified, the output is rectified at an n-times voltage rectifying circuit 10. This n-times voltage is made stable at a stabilizing circuit 11 and divided at resistors R1 and RV1-RV3. The divided voltage is applied to a varactor diode CD1 determining the oscillating frequency of a variable frequency oscillator 8. In figure, 5 is an m-division frequency divider 6, is a phase comparison circuit, 7 is a low-pass filter and 8 is a variable frequency oscillator.

Conventionally, this type of variable frequency oscillator is known to have a configuration in which the oscillation frequency (free-running frequency) is changed by changing the voltage applied to a parikiup diode, but this applied voltage is controlled by the power supply voltage of the circuit. The reality is that the range of nine oscillation frequencies is also limited. Therefore, in order to expand the range of one oscillation frequency, the coil or capacitor that determines one oscillation frequency is changed over to the oscillation frequency band. However, such a circuit has many disadvantages in that it has many single circuit elements and is difficult to adjust, and is also expensive.

Note that in the above-mentioned circuit of the present invention, the output of the crystal oscillator is used as the input to be supplied to the n-fold voltage rectifier circuit lO, but instead of this crystal oscillator, a self-excited oscillator or a DC-D
It is also possible to use a C converter or the like. However, according to these means, the number of parts is larger than that of a crystal oscillator, and not only is the cost high, but also problems such as spurious waves may occur depending on one oscillation frequency.
