Abstract

PURPOSE:To record/reproduce sound signals with excellent sound quality even at a low speed drive, by splitting a recording track part written with an auxiliary head in the 1.5 head system for recording the vertical blanking line of a video signal and a time-compressed sound signal thereon. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 13 comprises a lower cylinder 9 and an upper cylinder 8 in rotation, and a main rotary magnetic head 10 and the 1st and the 2nd subrotary magnetic heads 11, 12 as shown in figure are fixed to the cylinder 8. In figure, 5 is a recording track of the video signal recorded with a main head 10, and 6 is a recording track recorded at the vertical blanking period of the video signal with the 1st subhead 11, and 7 is recording track of the sound signal subjected to time-compression with the 2nd subhead 12. The recording track 6 has a narrow track width and the S/N is deteriorated, but the synchronizing signal is recorded and the signal on this track does not appear on the reproducing screen, then no effect is given. Although the width of the track 7 is narrow and the S/N is deteriorated, excellent reproduction is attained because of the PCM recording, and even if the tape running speed is low, the sound signal is recorded/reproduced with excellent sound quality.

For this purpose, in the two-head system, the overlap portion of the tape winding around the cylinder portion is greatly increased, and a PCM and time-compressed audio signal is recorded in this portion. An example of this conventional pattern recorded on tape is shown in FIG. Figure 1 shows an example of a 2-hectazimuth recording system, where 1 is a magnetic tape, 2 is a recording track where video signals are recorded, and 3 is an overlap section where time-compressed audio signals are recorded. is the guard part of the video signal and audio signal.

In this case, increasing the overlap as shown in FIG. 1 is only possible by a small amount and is inappropriate since the wrap has already been wrapped around 360°. Also#! Recording audio signals in the overlap area as shown in Figure 1 has the disadvantage that signal switching during recording and playback is extremely clumsy and an extra guard area must be provided.

A recording pattern recorded on the magnetic tape 1 is shown in FIG. FIG. 2 shows signals for two fields. 5 is a record trace of the video signal recorded by the main rotating magnetic head 10; 6;
7 is a signal record recorded by the first sub-rotary magnetic head 11, which corresponds mainly to the vertical blanking interval of the video signal; 7 is a time-compressed audio recorded by the second sub-rotary magnetic head 12. This is a record of the signal. In a preferred embodiment, the i-house audio signal is converted into PCM, time-compressed, and recorded in 7 parts. Generally, when the tape running speed is slow, it is difficult to record and reproduce audio signals of sufficient sound quality on the tracks in the longitudinal direction of the tape, and recording and reproduction using a rotating magnetic head is more advantageous.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the first sub-rotary magnetic head 11 and the second sub-rotary magnetic head 12 are installed with a predetermined step in the direction of the rotational axis, and the track has a recording trace of 6°7. The width and guard width are combined to make one track width. During playback, correct playback is possible by keeping the relative position of each head the same as during recording. As shown in Figure 2, the vertical retrace interval The track width of the recording track 6 of the signal becomes smaller, and the 8/N ratio of this part decreases, but this part is originally a sync signal part and cannot be seen on the playback screen, so the adjustment of the 8/N ratio is reduced. This decrease does not affect the playback screen.Also, since the track width of the compressed audio signal recording track 7 is smaller than that of the recording track 5, the SIN decreases, but this is especially true when the audio signal is
In the case of recording as a commercial, even if S is lower than that of an analog signal, it is possible to reproduce it sufficiently well, so that good reproduced sound quality can be obtained.

Now, if the left and right channels of the audio signal are sampled at twice the horizontal scanning line frequency and each is 8-bit quantized to form a PCM signal, the bit rate will be approximately □500KIlit/S. The period recorded by the regular rotary magnetic head is approximately 15H (H
;horizontal scanning line period) and 262.5.Then, the compression ratio of the audio signal is /15=17.5. Therefore, the bit rate of the compressed PCM audio signal is approximately 6.6 MB 1% 7B. This is a recording frequency of about 4.5 h, which is a normal household VV.
Even in TR, 87N is a frequency that can be reproduced well.

As is clear from the above explanation, when the 87N of the audio signal is insufficient, it is possible to lower the recording frequency and improve the recording frequency by increasing the section recorded by the sub-rotary magnetic head. In some cases, a plurality of second sub-rotary magnetic heads may be provided, and these may be arranged so as to have a step difference from each other, thereby further dividing the recording trace 7 into a plurality of parts.
It is also possible to do this, and there are cases where this improves the S/N ratio.

FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of the invention. In this embodiment, recording and reproducing with the sub-rotary magnetic head are the same as in the previous example, but the main rotary magnetic head is divided into a first main rotary magnetic head and a second main rotary magnetic head, each having a recording track 2B. and record 29. Therefore, it is the same as the sub-rotating magnetic head (
By providing a step between the first and second main rotary magnetic heads in the direction of the rotation axis, the main signal recording trunk written on the magnetic tape 1 can be divided into two.

In a preferred example of this embodiment, the main signal is divided into a luminance signal and a chrominance signal, which are recorded on recording tracks 2 and 29, respectively. In this embodiment, since the color signal does not exist in the entire period of the video signal, it is possible to record and reproduce the audio signal compressed for one hour in the section where the color signal does not exist. In other words, it is possible to make the channel that supplies the color signal to the cylinder and the channel that supplies the compressed audio signal to the cylinder the same. Since the time-compressed audio signal is recorded on the recording track, dubbing can be performed extremely easily.For example, even by simply overwriting, it is possible to erase the previous audio signal and record a new audio signal. In addition, more complete erasing is possible by using a dedicated fly-in erase head.Furthermore, with a fixed erase head, the tape running force can be continuously adjusted in advance in the tape width direction only for the portion written by the sub-rotating magnetic head. It is also possible to re-record the erased parts of the time-compressed audio signal and video signal.In this case, the main rotating magnetic head can be set to playback mode, and the previously recorded video signal and the newly recorded video signal can be re-recorded. It is necessary to ensure that there is no synchronization gap.

According to the present invention described above, even when the magnetic tape running speed is slow, audio signals can be recorded and played back with good sound quality, and post-recording can be performed extremely easily. Since the usable area of the tape is used extremely effectively, it is suitable for high-density recording, and the top and bottom ends of the tape can be used not only for recording and reproducing control signals but also for recording and reproducing address 1 signals and other signals. This makes it suitable for multi-function VTRs.
