Abstract

PURPOSE:To select and reproduce required still picture information quickly without displaying the still picture one after another through reproduction, by shrinking plural still pictures, recording them at the same time and displaying them on one index screen split into plural screens. CONSTITUTION:An input picture signal (a) is digitally converted at an A/D converter 1, still picture information for one sheet is written on a picture memory 2, and a read-out output is applied to a disc recorder and reproducer 3. This operation is repeated to record a plural picture information on the reproducer 3, the output of the memory 2 is shirnked at a shrinking device 4 and recorded on an index recording area of the reproducer 3. In reproducing the picture information, the reproduced output of the index area of the reproducer 3 is given to an index memory 5 to store one index information. The output of the memory 5 is applied to a D/A converter 7 via a changeover switch 6 and it is displayed on a monitor TV. The still picture is selected on the monitor TV, allowing to output the still picture of the required part of the picture memory 8.
