4内に、ピストン8の頂面側に開口する吸気通路20と
排気通路21、ヲそれぞれ形成して該吸気通路20と排
気通路セ1を吸気弁12と排気弁13によ2て開閉制御
する一方、前記吸気通路20と排気通路21の中間位置
に燃料噴射弁16を取付はミさらに、前記シリンダ2の
側方にクランク軸11と連動回転する冷却ファン7を配
設し該冷却ファン7によって発生せしめられる冷却風W
の一部を前記吸気通路20と排気通路゛21の周囲に形
成した冷却風通路24内を流通せしめ−るようにした内
燃機関であって、前記吸気通路20と排気通路21を、
該吸気通路20と排気通路21の間に冷却風Wの流通を
許容し得る適宜大きさの弁間隙間27を有する如く、前
記シリンダ2の前記冷却ファン7装着側の第1側面4a
側と該第1側面4aに対してシリンダ軸心をはさんで対
向する第2側面4b側とに適宜離隔させて形成する一方
、前記冷却風通路24を、冷却風Wを前記弁間隙間27
