DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing decorative board materials in which a protective coating is formed on the decorative surface of various board materials.

In general, as the number of days passes from the manufacturing date of decorative wood plywood and other board materials, changes in temperature and humidity in the atmosphere cause the bonded materials to expand and contract to different degrees, causing the decorative veneer side to be relatively thin. The width of the surface is 5-1.0 m, the length is 10-2 [
]m dry cracks occur.

In order to prevent the dry cracking phenomenon, conventionally, a resin coating film is formed on the decorative surface using a roll coater, a flow coater, or the like. However, this paint film is not strong enough to withstand the expansion and contraction movement that occurs in the board.
The occurrence of dry cracks is still unavoidable.

In response to this, the present applicant has previously proposed that in order to form a hard protective film that can resist the expansion and contraction movement of the plate material, it is sufficient to apply a resin such as epoxy (using hot press, etc.) to the decorative surface. (Japanese Patent Application No. 163802/1972).However,
Although this method can form a hard film, since the resin such as epoxy is applied directly to the decorative surface under pressure, the degree of resin impregnation varies greatly depending on the grain of the surface.
Areas with coarse grains are impregnated with a large amount of resin, while areas with dense grains are not impregnated as much, resulting in uneven color stains.

The inventor of the present invention has conducted intensive research on the production of drums, and first coated the decorative surface with a thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin with a large molecular weight using a flow coater, roll coater, etc., and dried and hardened the undercoat film. Later, it was found that if a resin such as epoxy was bonded by thermocompression onto the undercoat film, the above-mentioned uneven color contamination of the decorative surface would not occur. This is because when painting with a flow coater, roll coater, etc., the resin is applied to the decorative surface without applying pressure, so the coating resin does not impregnate the surface under the decorative surface. Once heated and cured, it will not melt even if heated again, and even if thermoplastic resin has a large molecular weight, it will not be press-fitted into the plywood surface structure even if it melts. This is thought to be because uneven impregnation does not occur even after thermocompression bonding.

Note that examples of the thermoplastic resin having a large molecular weight include vinyl acetate resin, lacquer resin, and phenol.

If an undercoat film is formed without pre-impregnating the decorative surface with resin using a coating method such as a flow coater, even if the epoxy resin, etc. is bonded under heat after the resin dries and hardens, the presence of the undercoat film will prevent the epoxy resin, etc. It is possible to obtain high-strength decorative plywood without impregnating the decorative surface and causing no contamination of the decorative surface.
