Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain full color display at a display level having a high lightness, through transmission type display, by providing a white light source at the back of a display panel. CONSTITUTION:In bidirectional picture communication like a television telephone set, a video signal transmitted from a remote terminal is pictured on a display panel 6 consisting of an optical transmission element such as liquid crystal, PLZT and EC. To attain the display of transmission type effectively, white light sources 9 and concaved mirrors 10 are provided. Since the scanning element is converted from ON to OFF or OFF to ON at each scanning of the element, the display element is in transmission state periodically, a light from external parts passes through the display panel and is incident to an image pickup element 8 for an objective 5, to be picked up.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an image display/imaging device that uses a transmissive display to increase the brightness and display effect to the extent that color display is possible.

従来、テレビ電話はCRTを用いて表示を行い。Conventionally, videophone calls use CRT to display information.

In this case, if the user looks at the other person's eyes on the CRT, he or she cannot see the image pickup tube, which is located at a different location than the art dealer, so the users look at each other.

FIGS. 1 and 2 are explanatory diagrams of the above-mentioned drawbacks. User (5
) directs the line of sight (4) or (3) to either the image pickup tube (2) or the display (2), which are located at different locations. If the user tries to look at the person shown on the display (1), For example, the line of sight is (3), and the image of the user reflected on the image pickup tube (2) is projected on the other party's display as shown in Figure 25.
As a result, users are unable to see each other. To overcome this drawback, a display panel is constructed using materials that transmit light such as liquid crystal, PLZT, EC, etc., and an image pickup tube, etc. is installed behind the display panel. A method was proposed in which an image pickup unit was provided. FIG. 3 is a sectional view illustrating the outline of this method. Display panel through which light is transmitted when ON or OF2 (

The key point of the present invention is that a white light source is provided behind one display panel to display a transmissive display in order to reduce display brightness. Moreover, the light source and the imaging section are arranged in a position where the light from the white light source does not directly enter the imaging section. In addition, a solid-state image sensor is used to make the entire device compact.

以下1本発明を図に従って詳しく説明する、。The present invention will be explained in detail below with reference to the drawings.

Oa is a non-reflection coating film that prevents the light from the light source from being reflected once and entering the imaging section. The white light source (9) is arranged in front of the imaging section so that its light does not directly enter the imaging section (8) and does not prevent the light from being irradiated onto the display panel. FIGS. 5 and 6 are explanatory diagrams showing the shape of the white light source and the positional relationship of the imaging section. In FIG. 5, the center is removed and the imaging section (8) is placed inside. FIG. 6 shows the position of the imaging section (8) when two cylindrical light sources are used.

A GH liquid crystal (14) for controlling color brightness is sealed in the transparent substrates Ocj and 01, as shown in FIG. It is formed into units.3
The number of transistors in contact with the liquid crystal layer (1'i) responsible for the primary colors is three times the number of transistors in contact with the liquid crystal layer (1'i) responsible for the brightness of the two colors. In other words, the brightness of the colors made up of the three pixels that carry the three primary colors is achieved by one electrode with an area three times as large.3.A in Figure 8 is the switching for controlling the liquid crystal layer 01. The electrode configuration of the section is shown. OFj is Tr, and the α field is a transparent electrode due to Nesa. FIG. 8b shows the electrode structure of the switching section for controlling the liquid crystal layer αη. 0→ is a Tr and the wire is a transparent electrode.
