Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide any profile to a workpiece without producing an idling to the workpiece by tilting a cradle supporting the workpiece through a numerically-controlled stylus in a cam grinding machine provided with a rotary grind- ing stone. CONSTITUTION:A cradle 1 is freely tilted back and forth around a fulcrum of a shaft 2. A workpiece 3 is supported by a shaft 4 on the surface of the crade 1 in such a way that the workpiece may freely rotate. When a stylus 8 is driven back and forth under numerical control after the workpiece 3 is rotated by a prime mover, the workpiece 3 is subjected to the action of the stylus 8 on a cylindrical member 7 on the same shaft 4, which produces a responding back and forth movement. With this action, the workpiece 3 can be cut into a specified profile with a rotary grinding stone 6.
