Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an unnecessary angle of delay by invaliditating a fail safe means that delays an ignition timing in response to abnormality in a vibration accerelation detecting system in a prescribed load state, in an ignition timing control device that suppresses knocking. CONSTITUTION:A number of revolutions detecting circuit 20 senses, from an output of a phase shifter 8, a set number of revolutions where an output level of an acceleration sensor 1 is low. Further, a load detector 22 detects a light load of an engine on the basis of intake air negative pressure of the engine. These detected signals control an abnormality judging circuit 16 via an OR circuit 21 and stops the angle of delay in a fail safe action in an operating state where knocking is difficult to be produced even when an acceleration detecting system is abnormal, in order to inhibit generation of an output from said circuit 16. In this way, it is possible to remove an unnecessary control for the angle of delay to prevent lowering of power performance together with deterioration in fuel consumption.
