Abstract
PURPOSE:To lengthen lifetime and prevent the fall in the efficiency of thermionic emission, by dispersing electroconductive fibers stable at high temperature, in an emitter substance. CONSTITUTION:Electroconductive fibers 4 are dispersed in an emitter substance 2 to manufacture a sintered electrode. The emitter substance 2 is an oxide or peroxide of an alkaline earth metal such as barium, strontium and calcium. The electroconductive fibers 4 are tungsten whiskers, tungsten carbide whiskers, carbon fibers or a mixture of them.
