NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI[n is 0, 1, 2, or 3; m is 1 or 3; X is CH3-(CH2)a-CH(CH3)-or CH3-(CH2a+2-; Y is -CH2-CH=C(F)- or -CH2-CH2- CH(F)-(F is H or CH3); Z is group of formula II, -CH=C(CH3)-CH2-, or -CH2-C (=CH2)-CH2-; a is 0 or 1; provided that when m is 1, Z is group of formula II, and when m is 3, then a is 0 and F is H (when Y is unsaturated group, Z is also unsaturated group, and when Y is saturated group, then Z is also saturated group)].
EXAMPLE: 3-Methyl-5-decen-1-ol.
USE: Antibacterial agent, perfumery, and their intermediate.
