Abstract

PURPOSE:To reproduce magnetized information, recorded with high density, at an excellent S/N ratio by decreasing the length of a gap between a floating slider and a magnetic recording medium by providing a vertical magnetizing film to the floating slider. CONSTITUTION:A light beam 16 incident to a floating slider 7 is reflected by a vertical magnetizing film while the plane of polarization is rotated, and is made incident to the same analyzer 9 with a polarizer 3 through a lens 6 and a half-mirror 5. The analyzer 9 converts the rotating angle of the polarization plane of the laser beam into the intensity difference of the light, and a detector 10 reproduces the magnetized information of a magnetic recording medium 8 by the intensity difference of the light. This reproduced signal is supplied to an output 14 and a voice coil motor driving part 11. A movable reflecting mirror driving part 12 supplies an oscillation instruction to a piezoelectric oscillator 15 to detect the direction of a track shift, and also to detect a fine position shift by the intensity difference of the light, thereby rotating a movable reflecting mirror 4 so that a correct track is irradiated with the light beam 16.
