Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a fine opaque white film by subjecting an anodically oxidized Al or Al alloy material to AC electrolysis or DC cathodic electrolysis in a weak alkaline aqueous soln. of Ti complex ions contg. no K and Na.
CONSTITUTION: An Al or Al alloy material is pretreated by pickling, neutralization and degreasing, and an anodic oxide film is formed with sulfuric acid, oxalic acid, phosphoric acid or the like. On the other hand, an aqueous soln. of titanium (IV) sulfate is made alkaline or neutral with an aqueous soln. of ammonia or the like, and amines such as diethylamine or triethanolamine and a carboxylic acid such as gluconic acid are added as a complexing agent to prepare an aqueous soln. of Ti complex contg. no K and Na. The Al material having the anodic oxide film is subjected to AC electrolysis or DC cathodic electrolysis in the aqueous soln. to form a fine opaque white film on the surface, and this film is treated to soal pores.
