Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the erosion resistance of a steam trap by a method wherein a sacrificial anode is disposed at a ceiling part of a valve chamber or other similar part where steam is stagnated so that the steam is condensed on the surface of the sacrificial anode. CONSTITUTION:The sacrificial anode plate 32 of a metallic material baser than the metal constituting the trap is provided at the ceiling part of the valve chamber 4 where steam is stagnated. As a result, the anode plate 32 causes an anti- corrosive current to flow against a corrosive current, thereby preventing chemical corrosion and erosion. In addition, even when oxide films on the surfaces of a contacting member 20 of a valve seat, a cylindrical part at the tip of a main body member 19 and the internal wall of a bush 24 are peeled off by the contacting force of a float 25 and the friction force of a fluid with the result that internal metallic layers are exposed, the metal dissolved from the anode plate 32 is deposited on the exposed layers to form a protective film. Accordingly, the contacting member 20 of the valve seat exhibits the abrasion resistance of a hard metal, while the protective films on the surfaces of other parts are retained and erosion resistance is enhanced.
