Abstract

PURPOSE: To always enable correction to a desired posture, by providing a multi- step pinch-holding part in each claw of the mounted element posture corrector of an automatic assembly machine and changing the stop position of a vacuum chuck depending on the multi-step pinch-holding part to correct the posture of elements different in size and shape.
CONSTITUTION: A vacuum chuck 4 sucks a chip-like electronic circuit element 5A at a prescribed work station and puts the element on a printed circuit board on a table at another station. The orientation of the element 5A is changed by 90° at a correcting station between the sucking station and the transfer station. The correcting station is provided with a correction chuck 29 made of four claws 30 pivotally connected to the hollow chuck body 31. The claws 30 facing each other are coupled to each other by a coiled tension spring 32 so that the claws are energized toward the center of the chuck 29. The four claws 30 are pushed open as a cam follower rod 34 is moved up. The four claws are gathered toward the center as the cam follower rod is moved down. While the claws 30 are open, the vacuum chuck 4 is pushed down to put the element 5A in between the claws 30. The claws 30 are then closed to pinch the element 5A. The posture of the element is changed if necessary.
