Abstract

PURPOSE: To return expanded inside and outside pipes to natural temp. and tightly fit doubleply pipes with a sufficient interference by releasing explosive force in the inside pipe filled with water and inserted into a heated outside pipe thereby cooling the outside pipe and elevating the temp. of the inside pipe.
CONSTITUTION: An inside pipe 2 is inserted into an outside pipe 1, and the end parts of the inside pipe 2 are tightly sealed with caps 4, 4 extended with bar- like gunpowder 3. Next, these are clamped with oil hydraulic support members 5, 5, and the water 7 cooled to prescribed temp. is supplied through one water feed port 6 with check valve of the cap 4 and through a pipe 8, whereby the water is filled therein. The pipe 2 is reduced of diameter, and an oil jacket 10 preheated with heating oil 9 from the outer side of the pipe 1 is brought closer to cause pipe expansion under heating. Thence, an initiating agent 12 is exploded by a lead 11 to explode the gunpowder 3 instantaneously, by which the pipes 2, 1 are expanded and increased of diameters. Immediately after this, the valve 13 of the other cap 4 is opened to discharge cooling water; at the same time the oil jacket 10 is detached from the pipe 1 and the pipes 2, 2 are returned to natural temp. Then, the pipe 1 reduces and the pipe 2 expands, thereby forming a thorough fit.
