Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a negative electrode or positive electrode thinner and to improve the discharge characteristics of a battery, by using a metallic porous thin plate as a collector or core member for a battery in which light metal is used for a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A collector or core member of a positive or negative electrode is formed with a metallic porous thin plate 7, where the battery uses light metal such as Li, Na, K, Ca, or Mg for the negative electrode. The porous thin plate 7 is formed by a way in which a metallic original plate 8 provided with many slits 8a is expanded to form an expanded metal and it is rolled to a thickness of less than the original plate 8. Grid blanks 7a are innumerably formed on the porous thin plate 7, and grid skeletons 7b are flatened completely. Thus the positive or negative electrode is easily formed thin without deterioration of the electrical function. The utilization of active material is increased, and the discharge characteristics is improved extraordinally.
