Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the junction accuracy of an optical fiber at the center of the edge surface on an inner element and at the same time to prevent the lack of the inner element to increase the lifetime of an optical fiber connector, by providing a cylindrical projected part at the center of the butted side end part of both inner elements which are set opposite to each other within an adaptor. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 4 is buried along the center axis of a cylindrical inner element 3 made of a material such as the ceramic, jewel, etc. having high hardness. An attachment ring 2 is fixed to the element 3. Then a pair of elements 3 to be connected is inserted into a cylinder sleeve type adaptor 1 opposite to each other, and the ring 2 is screwed and fixed to the adaptor 1. A cylindrical projected part 3a is formed at the center of the edge part of the element 3. Accordingly the polishing accuracy can be reduced for the end surface of the element 3 to form the same gap (d) between the edge surfaces of the fiber 4. Thus the time is saved for the surface working.
