Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fibers, having many micropores in the interior thereof without microvoids, and useful as an adsorbent, etc., by wet spinning a spinning solution of cellulose acetate or its mixture with another polymer in an aqueous solution of the same solvent as in the spinning solution as a coagulant at a specific temperature at a specific effective draft ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Cellulose acetate or a polymeric mixture consisting of it essentially is dissolved in a solvent, e.g. dimethylacetamide, and wet spun in an aqueous solution of the solvent kept at 25W75°C at an effective draft ratio expressed by the formula (the maximal draft is the highest draft at which fibers are broken by the spinning) in the range of 0.2W0.6. The resultant fibers are washed if necessary, drawn and dried to give the aimed fibers having an internal surface area ≥15m2/g and an average micropore diameter ≤1μ in the interior thereof and micropores uniformly formed therein without macrovoids having a pore diameter ≥5μ.
