Abstract

PURPOSE: To weld the pipes of the inside part of a densely aggregated pipe group from the outside by consiting a welding device of a slide arm consisting of plural joints and a sleeve body cotaining this, turning a welding torch at the leading end of said slide arm once or more turns along the weld line of the pipe by means of the joints as the arm comes out from the sleeve body.
CONSTITUTION: When a motor 19 starts running with joint bodies 21 held contained in a sleeve body 14A, a pinion 18 rotates and a slide arm 16 is moved rightward by way of a rack, and the joint bodies 21 coupled thereto are pushed out successively from the end part of the body 14A. The bodies 21 are made free to turn, and are attracted by springs 21C and are rotated around coupling pins 21A until they abut on stoppers 21B. In this case, if the length of the stoppers 21B is beforehand controlled in conformity with the outside diameter of a pipe 11 in such a way that the bodies 21 conform to the outside circumference of the pipe 11, the welding torch 22 at the leading end of the bodies 21 turns on the outside circumference of the pipe 11 as the bodies 21 are pushed out.
