Abstract

PURPOSE: To compost waste contg. org. materials with good efficiency by adding a highly water-absorptive resin such as crosslinked cellulose deriv. to high hydrous waste contg. residues of food processing, excess sludge in an activation sludge process, etc. and causing aerobic fermentation.
CONSTITUTION: A highly water-absorptive resin is added and mixed to and with high hydrous waste contg. residues of food processing, cattle dung, excess sludge in an activated sludge process, etc., and the mixture is subjected to aerobic fermentatin. Crosslinked cellulose derivatives such as hydrolyzed polymer of starch- acrylonitrile graft copolymer, starch-acrylic acid graft copolymer, crosslinked carboxymethylcellulose or the like are suitable as the highly water-absorptive resin. It is also possible to make combination use of water-absorptive fibrous materials such as bark, sawdust, chaff, rice straw and the like.
