Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the amt. of contact between fermentation liquid and bacteria and improve fermentation efficiency by producing gaseous methane in a fermentation tank provided with baffle plates in suitable positions, and forcing down the liquid level of the fermentation liquid then venting gas and resetting the liquid level.
CONSTITUTION: The fermentation raw material charged through a fermentation raw material charge pipe 1 ferments to produce gaseous methane in the 1st fermentation chamber 6 of a lower vessel 3, and is moved successively by the gaseous pressure into the 2nd, 3rd fermentation chambers 7, 8, where it ferments. When the production of the gas increases, the fermentation liquid chamber is lowered by the gaseous pressure and is forced upward past a communicating port 13 into an upper vessel 2. Thence, when the gas is taken out through a gas take-out pipe 14, the gaseous pressure drops sharply, and the fermentation liquid backflows into the vessel 3. Therefore, the liquid levels in the 1stW3rd chambers 6W8 rise abruptly, thereby resuming the initial state. At this time, scum and the like are prevented from floating as they are pressed by the rear surfaces of baffle plates 9. Only the liquid moves upward by passing through through-holes 10, etc.
