Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the traveling characteristic and image characteristics of a copying machine at 4-9% moisture contents during use, by keeping the degree of curl measured with a curl testing method at 0-+13 when the moisture contents at the paper production are 5.5-6.5%. CONSTITUTION:In the drying stage at the paper production, the steam pressures of the top dryers 4a, 5a and bottom dryers 4b, 5b of the 2nd dryer group 4 and an after dryer 5 are set larger than the steam pressures of the top dryers 4a, 5a, whereby dry compressive stress is applied on the W surface. This internal stress is relieved by heating at the copying, whereby the large curl on the heated surface side is obtained. When the resultant transfer paper is used for an electrostatic copying machine, the traveling characteristic and image characteristics of the copying machine are improved within a 4-9% range of moisture contents during use.
