Abstract
PURPOSE:To equalize the distribution of an electrolyte in a positive electrode body, and enhance the utilization rate of a positive active material by mixing the positive active material and a non-aqueous electrolyte to make the voids of an active material powder to be filled with the electrolyte, and molding thus prepared mixture into the positive electrode body. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture consisting of a positive active material such as manganese dioxide powder, acetylene black and the like is mixed with a non-aqueous electrolyte such as a propylene carbonate solution of lithium perchlorate, thereby making the voids of the active material powder to be filled with the electrolyte. Thus prepared mixture is molded into a positive electrode body 1, which is placed in a positive can. After that, a separator 2 impregnated with the non-aqueous electrolyte, and a negative electrode 3 are placed over the positive body 1, thereby a battery being constituted. In assembling the battery, the electrolyte is not poured into the positive body 1. By the means mentioned above, the electrolyte is much more homogeneously distributed compared with a battery in which a positive mixture powder, after being compressed and molded, is impregnated with electrolyte. Consequently, the utilization rate of the active material is enhanced without using much electrolyte for the impregnation of the active material.
