Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the throw-away chip at low cost without deteriorating rigidity and cutting performance and replaceable with a conventional chip by forming the chip in the cylindrical form wherein the inner shape is similar to the outer shape in consideration of the quantity of cutting resistance and acting direction of the cutting force.
CONSTITUTION: The triangle throw-away chip 12 is made of tangsten, cobalt or the like in the triangle cylinder having a triangle space 13 the outline of which is similar to that of the triangle cylinder is formed at such a position as to face the corresponding sides of these two triangles at an equal distance. When the chip 12 is mounted on the tool holder 2, an insertion 14 is first inserted into the space 13 of the chip 12 and then, a chip fixing pin 4 is inserted into a mounting hole 15 pierced in the insertion body 14. With such a construction, the chip is imparted with replaceability and available at a low cost, without degrading the rigidity and cutting performance.
