Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable recording and reproduction without intermittence of period, by using a BBD for time compression and expansion of an audio signal of a single rotating head system and adjusting the period of clock frequency to be inputted. CONSTITUTION:In a single rotating head system, when an audio signal in time compression is multiplex-recorded on a midulated on a modulated video signal through frequency division, the audio signal from a terminal 9 is supplied to BBDs 19, 20 at the same time. Taking the period of a rotating drum as T1, the audio signal is read in during 4/3 T1 in frequency f to the two BBDs via a data selector 32, and written in during 2/3 T1 in frequenly 2f, and the same audio signal is read in duplicatedly during the period of T4. At playback, the audio signal in time compression intermittently reproduced is restored to the original audio pitch through time expansion and the consecutive audio signal is reproduced. Thus, the device with a simple circuit constitution, low cost and less failure is obtained.
