Abstract

PURPOSE:To inhibit the effluence of gas and oil to the outside and to prevent the secondary disaster by enclosing a variable volume bag comprising a flexible sheet in a pressure relief chamber, and sealing the same gas as noncombustible gas in the pressure relief chamber in said bag with the same pressure. CONSTITUTION:A pressure relief valve 5 is provided on the side wall of a tank 3 wherein a transformer main body 1 and an insulating oil 2 are enclosed, and the tank 3 and the pressure relief chamber 7 are communicated by a connecting tube 6. In said pressure relief chamber 7, is provided the bag 8 comprising the flexible sheet such as, e.g., a rubber sheet, a metal foil, and the like. Said bag 8 is connected to a port 9 provided in the side wall of the pressure relief chamber 7, and communicated with the inside of the pressure relief chamber 7 via a valve 10. If the inner pressure is increase due to the fault in the tank 3, the gas and oil gushed out of the pressure relief valve 5 are directly collided against the inner wall of the pressure relief chamber 7. The initial shock of the reaction is absorbed by the bag 8. Even though the bag 8 is broken, the gas and oil do not contact with air and are accommodated in the pressure relief chamber 7. Therefore, the secondary disaster such as ignition, fire, and the like can be prevented.
