Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce melting energy by a method wherein a compressing machine of a coarse material of a crusher is provided on the way of transportation from an incinerator to an arc furnace and the coarse material of a garbage incineration residue is compressed or crushed into a specific size or less to increase a melting speed of the residue.
CONSTITUTION: On the way of transportation from an incinerator 9 of an urban garbage incineration residue to an arc furnace 1, a coarse material compressing machine 11 or a crusher 11 such as a high speed horizontal rotary type shearing crusher, a high speed vertical rotary type impact compressing crusher or the like is arranged. A coarse material of the garbage incineration residue from the arc furnace 1 is treated by the aforementioned compressing machine or the crusher to compress and/or crush the same so as to adjust a max. particle size to 200mm or less and a ratio of a bulk density/true specific gravity to 1/3W1/5 and, thereafter, thrown into the arc furnace 1. In the arc furnace 1, a base metal 4 is melted at 1,450W1,550°C and an inorg. substance in the residue is melted and the melted substance is taken out from a slag exit 8 to the outside.
