Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a spraying Japanese lacquer composition having improved viscosity and initial drying characteristics, by mixing raw Japanese lacquer, a reaction product between cashew nut oil and an oil-reactive phenol resin, a cellulose ester, and an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: One hundred pts.wt. raw Japanese lacquer is mixed with about 10W15pts.wt. reaction product of cashew nut oil and an oil-reactive phenol resin, with, as needed, about 5W10pts.wt. organic polyisocynate. The preferable cellulose ester used is cellulose acetate butyrate which can confer an initial drying acceleration effect upon the spraying Japanese lacquer. Also, the preferable organic solvent used is a mixture of methyl alcohol and acetone in particular which can give proper fluidity and thixotropic property to the spraying Japanese lacquer composition.
