Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled novel resin having superior performance as a material for the interlayer of safety laminated glass and made of modified polyvinyl acetal resin contg. cationic groups derived from modified PVA having a cationic group in each molecule.
CONSTITUTION: This resin for the interlayer of safety laminated glass is made of modified polyvinyl acetal resin (resin A) contg. cationic groups represented by the formula such as trimethyl-(3-acrylamido-3,3-dimethylpropyl)ammonium chloride units. The resin A is obtd. by converting cationic modified PVA contg. cationic groups into acetal resin. The suitable polyvinyl acetal for the purpose of this invention is polyvinyl butytal resin. The degree of acetal conversion is adjusted to 50W80% in general. When this resin is used as a material for the interlayer of safety laminated glass, the glass has superior piercing resistance at low or high temp. as well as at ordinary temp.
