Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss of heat in a heating furance in case where the amount of combustion is changed by controlling the amount of fuel to be supplied and the internal pressure of heating zone of the furnace by the opening degrees of a partition wall between the heating zone and a preheating zone and the damper in an exhaust gas flue in order to control the temperature of materials in the heating furnace on the basis of the temperatures of the materials at the inlet of the soaking zone.
CONSTITUTION: A steel material 4 is heated and soaked to a desired temperature in the area from an inlet 5 to a preheating zone 1, a heating zone 2, and the end of a soaking zone 3. Radiant heat from the heating zone 2 to the preheating zone is controlled by paired upper and lower movable partition walls, and the temperature of the steel material is controlled by a method in which values detected by a thermometer 17 at the inlet of the soaking zone 3 and a funace pressure meter 18 at the upper part of the heating zone 2 are compared with set values and the amount of fuel to be supplied to burners 20 and 21 and the opening degrees of the damper 22 of a flue 32 and also of paired walls 6 are regulated.
