Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the condition in processing and shorten the time for processing by providing a large processing gap and maintaining this gap with splash in an appropriate concentration in accordance with dimensions and configuration of the part processed and nature of the surface. CONSTITUTION:A bar electrode 1 made from ferromagnetic metal is furnished with an exciter coil 2b to excite the electrode partially. During processing, the control and exciting current is applied to this coil 2b by controlling an excitation control device 2a with an NC control device 5 in accordance with the configuration, dimensions and inclination of the part processed and properties of the surface such as surface roughness, and the condition of processing liquid injection according to program or sensed symbols to maintain the processing gap in an appropriate dimension as well as hold the concentration of the splash in accordance with the dimensions, configuration and properties of the part processed whereby the ratio of electrode consumption can be improved and generation of arc prevented, and thus the state of processing will be stabilized and the time required to process shortened.
