Abstract

PURPOSE: To restrict the generation of nitrogen oxide and to make possible the control of temperature distribution in the longitudinal direction of a tube by a method wherein fuel is burnt in the excessive air at the end of the tube and fuel only is supplied in the middle of the tube.
CONSTITUTION: A main burner 2 is provided at an end part of a radiant tube 1 and burning is conducted here under the condition that the air/fuel mixture is too lean. Further, fuel supply pipes 3, 4 are provided in the middle of the tube 1 and the fuel through the pipes 3, 4 is burnt by the excessive air. Accordingly, the excessive rate of the air decreases gradually toward the tip of the tube 1. Thus, at the vicinity of the burning flame formed by the main burner 2 cooling action is produced by the excessive air and generation of NOx is restricted by low temperature combustion. Moreover, combustion can be continued all over the length of the tube 1 by supplying fuel in the middle part only.
