Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent abnormal operation by detecting axial displacement of rotor due to wear of the bearing or pump racing as a change in electromotive force induced in a detector coil.
CONSTITUTION: As wear of a front bearing 16a which rotates in sliding contact with the thrust collar 18a increases, a rotor 15 moves forward resulting in a larger axial off-alignment G between the rear ends of permanent magnets 12, 13 raising the electromotive force E(v) higher than that of normal operation. On the other hand, when liquid in the pump casing 22 is lost, operating the pump in racing, the axial thrust of a runner 14 is lost bringing the rotor 15 backward due to axial coupling force of permanent magnets 12, 13 until rear ends of both permanent magnets 12, 13 come in axial alignment with each other. At this moment the electromotive force induced in a detector coil 23 is reduced to almost zero. In this manner abnormal operation can be prevented by detecting axial displacement of motor 15 due to wear of the bearing or pump racing as a change in the electromotive force induced in the detector coil 23.
