Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase heat dissipation as well as to prevent high temperature fracture in a piston made of a resin, by providing an opening end face of the piston with dimples or ditches by means of pre-thermal passing or post-working method. CONSTITUTION:A disk type brake piston is constituted in such a manner that friction pads 4 holding a disk 5 in between exert brake force on the disk 5 by operating a piston 3 within a cylinder 2. The piston 3 is made of phenol resin or the like and consists of an opening end face 7 and a peripheral groove 8. The opening end surface 7 is provided with many dimples 9 or a large number of small ditches 10. The dimples 9 are small multiple indents of a semi-spherical or cylindrical shape, and parts of them open to internal/external circumferences 11 and 12. The ditches 10 consist of radial ditches (a) and circumferential ditches (b) intersecting with each other, and open to internal/external circumferences 11 and 12.
