Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the rate of organic reactions as well as lengthen the life of a catalyst by using an ion exchange fiber or its textile fabrics having a specific diameter or less as a catalyst for organic reactions.
CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst used in an organic reaction, e.g., esterification, the hydrolysis of esters, etc., conducted in reactive distillation method, etc., an ion exchange fiber or its textile fabrics, e.g., yarn, woven cloth, etc., having less than a specific diameter, are used as the constituent of the catalyst. The catalyst composed of fibers having smaller diameter has wider specific surface area and makes the rate of reactions faster.
