Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deformation of paper, by moving down the top of the paper in a cassette to keep the top of the front end of the paper from coming into contact with the conveying roller of a paper feeder when the cassette is charged into a copier.
CONSTITUTION: A stack of paper 5 is housed on the bottom plate 3 of a cassette 2. At that time, the bottom plate 3 is moved down against a spring 6 and both the front corners of the paper 5 are held down by a snubber 4. The snubber 4 is provided on the tip of an arm 7 whose butt is pivotally connected to the side wall of the cassette 2, to hold down both the corners of the paper 5 by the weight of the snubber 4. A protruded cam 8 is provided on the top of the arm 7. The arm 7 is moved down by the contact of a roller 9 with the cam 8 at the time of charging of the cassette 2 into an automatic paper feeder to displace the front end of the paper 5 downward in front of a conveying roller 10 to prevent the paper 5 from being deformed due to contact with the roller 10.
