Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the durability and cleanability by forming a hardened film of water-soluble silicone resin which is silicone resin-polyester resin copolymer as a protective layer on the photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer is formed by dispersing powder of a photoconductive substance such as CdS, ZnO or TiO2 in a binder resin to obtain an electrophotographic receptor. At this time, on the photoconductive layer a hardened film of water-soluble silicone resin which is silicone resin-polyester resin copolymer is formed as a protective layer. By copolymerizing silicone resin with polyester resin, many hydroxyl groups are provided to the molecular chain, the reactivity is enhanced, and the copolymer is made soluble in water. Since water is used as a solvent for the water-soluble silicone resin, the resin can be applied to the photoconductive layer, and the protective layer can be formed by baking at a relatively low temp. This receptor can be cleaned with a blade, and the deterioration in the photoconductivity can be reduced.
