PURPOSE:To improve operation efficiency by retrieving a reference word in a conversion table in a memory even when a necessary word in unclear during document forming, and by displaying a word which corresponds to the reference word. CONSTITUTION:In addition to a CPu11 and a memory 12, a memory module 2 stored with various conversion tables is connected to the CPU bus 8 of a main body 1. In the module 2, the conversion tanles (dictionaries) are stored; an operator displays alphabet words on a display device 6 and, when encountering a word which can not be converted in expressing an English sentence, changes a document forming mode over to a table reference mode to input a reference word on a keyboard 4. Then, the reference word is retrieved in the conversion table and transferred to an editing area where an alphabet word or document corresponding to the reference word is being generated. thus, the document forming is speeded and operation efficienty ic improved.
